February Frenzy 2017: Day 28

The last day. I could pull the needles from another project to start one of the ones I have available. I could start the Tinkerbell cross stitch. I could just not, like last time. Or I could 'fess up - I finally moved to North Carolina. That means that I'm reunited with my stash. I have a large selection of cross stitches, fiber to be spun, and at least two knitting projects that aren't waiting on needles. The real question is whether to start something that I can potentially finish today (small cross stitch?), or something that will be hanging around for awhile (spin some fiber? the last Clapotis? cabled throw?).

Small cross stitch it is! 28 things started, 20 finished, not too shabby!

February Frenzy 2017: Day 27

And here's the last easy, obvious thing I can make, the matching hat to yesterday's booties, a set that matches the baby blanket from the first of the month quite nicely:

February Frenzy 2017: Day 26

Well. I still haven't finished the things I wanted to finish. I went to start that shawl I thought I could start - turns out the needle is already in use. All three of them. Maybe I should work on finishing more WIPs.

Then I turned to the Tinkerbell cross stitch. Really, I don't want to start that. I'm fairly certain I won't finish it this year if I do start it, or if I did, I wouldn't finish any of the cross stitches that are already in progress. I considered giving up, on day 26 of 28.

Then I realized that, through the power of Math, I could figure out how much yarn was still needed for the baby blanket, and as long as there was enough wiggle room, make the baby hat and booties. Score!

February Frenzy 2017: Day 25

I still haven't finished the larger projects. I did get a bunch of work done on the baby blanket, but finished it is not. This cross stitch is fairly small and I'm hoping to gift it in April. Good choice for today, but tomorrow...oh what will I start tomorrow?!

February Frenzy 2017: Day 24

Today's choice is difficult. I was hoping to have either the baby blanket, a pair of socks, or a shawl done by now. If I had finished any of those, I could start baby booties or a hat to match the baby blanket, another pair of socks, or some towels to match the toilet paper holder I crocheted. I thought I could start the towels, weighed out the yarn and got the correct size hook to do a crochet cast-on (for matching edges), and then realized that needle was still in a project.

Out of the 15 projects left in my Indiana stash, I could easily start about three of them, two cross stitches and a shawl. Everything else needs needles from something else (there's a lot of sock yarn there!) and I don't particularly want to start the large cross stitch or the shawl until I finish a project of similar size. This is not looking good for the rest of the month! Luckily, I found that one pair of socks in the queue is colorwork and will work well with the DPNs that are not currently being used. Score!

February Frenzy 2017: Day 22

Hooray! Finished a thing!

Rather than starting the pair of socks using the same yarn but flipping the main and contrast colors, I'm starting another pair of cozy socks. These socks need the size 6 DPNs for the ribbing, the same size I'm using for the bright socks. I did manage to get that done and switched over to the size 7 DPNs. Tomorrow's project probably won't be much of a surprise!

Still haven't finished any of the bigger ones. I'm getting down to the end of what I can start, but I also don't have much time for knitting (still). Here's the start of a hat, one that will need the leftovers from the black yarn used in the baby blanket, but not until I can find the time to knit 3" of ribbing.

February Frenzy 2017: Day 16

I am getting a bit bored of the stitch markers. Sure they're pretty fast and easy, but they're also repetitive and something I need to look at, even though I know exactly what I'm doing now. I want to start one of the 20 other projects in my Indiana stash. I have three more pairs of socks I can start, a shawl, a couple of cross stitches, and some hand towels. I also have a worsted weight hat and another baby hat/booties set, but both of those require yarn from the baby blanket and I don't want to start any of that until the blanket is done. So, here's another pair of stitch markers! Only three more left...

Time for the yellow (pink? depends on the light...) markers! Yes, you'll be seeing these, at least until I finish the baby blanket, the neon blue socks, or an older WIP. I've got the Mixtape MKAL and Itineris on the top of the WIP pile as well. Keeping it to one-day(-ish) projects until then!

February Frenzy 2017: Day 14

Today I finally got some stuff done! Hooray! I started with the final pair of purple beaded stitch markers.

I went back and seamed up the baby booties, finished the last hat, and added ears to both. These were my purse project so there was steady progress, but nothing actually finished until today. There were four total out of this yarn, but the fourth went off to welcome a little one at the end of 2016. The fourth one looks pretty much the exact same.

February Frenzy 2017: Day 13

Today I built up some steam and tried to finish some of the things I've started. First off, today's new thing, another pair of stitch marker sandals, finished this time!

This is the third of four beading kits I purchased way back in Japan. The first two were orange and green, and I still have a yellow set. The orange and green had the same main color transparent beads, so I assumed all four kits did. I was just continuing to use the beads from the prior kits, no point in opening the new beads until needed, and after two pairs and a bit of two more sandals, it was time to open the next set of main color beads. I think you see where this is going.

Of course, the purple actually came with opaque beads. Crap. What about the yellow kit? Translucent. So three different styles of beads. Luckily, due to the February Frenzy, I had two sandals where the footbed was up to about the border (where I stopped on Day 11) because I had used up the rest of the beads to continue on the barely-begun sandal from Day 12. I would have been very annoyed to have to either pull one apart or make a fraternal set! I decided to go with the translucent ones and border both footbeds since that would work out well, instead of starting over. I only had to pull out three beads and it looks pretty good. Difficult to tell except in bright light. The only problem I'm having now is that if the beads manage to jump off the table and into the slightly shaggy carpet, they are less shiny so much more difficult to find, even with the high-powered flashlight!

Today I darned a sock. I'm also making a replacement pair out of the yarn I bought for darning. I'll give you three guesses for what tomorrow's project is going to be, and the first two don't count!

These patches were definitely large enough and required enough knitting that they are definitely a full separate project. First finish of the month, score! This is also one of the little things that I can finish quickly then get back to working on that baby blanket (and shawl and tablecloth and pair of socks and...).

February Frenzy 2017: Day 2

Today I planned to have a quick win. I was going to patch some socks that required extensive patching. I woke up nice and early (for me), 6:30, and since I was up so early, did my nails then went to get the patches done and posted before heading in to work.

Then my digital scale broke. It's a Japanese model and seems to require calibration, something I can't figure out how to do. I can't tell how much yarn the patches take without a scale. I can't start most of my desired projects because they require multiple colors, all of which need to be weighed to maximize yarn use. I could start one pair of quick bulky lounge socks, but they need the needles that are holding the stitches for the patches. So many problems! And my peppermint mocha wasn't froufy enough and tasted too much like coffee! Blech!

So I made a poll on Ravelry and they told me to make a beaded stitch marker. So I did. Just one though, and it needs to be a pair to count as finished, so it's not done yet! Be prepared for a lot of these this month, there's ten pairs so by my count, ten different projects.

February Frenzy 2017: Day 1

To celebrate the fifth year of February Frenzy, a fun month that kicked off monthly lists of sharing craftivities on my favorite Ravelry board, I'm going back to the original. That means working on a new or different project every day this month. With my obsession with data, I know that I have supplies for 36 projects along with my 14 WIPs/WISPs and am intending to buy yarn for probably three more hats (a requested PussyHat which will probably be two hats' worth of yarn and a Resist hat for me). Basically what I'm saying is, I got this. Also, I should be finishing pretty much all of the smaller projects I have with me in Indiana, including three sets of baby hats and booties, all three of those new hats, and ten pairs of beaded stitch markers. Must prove to myself and the world that I don't always hilariously overpack when it comes to yarn!

Let's do this!

Today, I started a project that I'm hoping to finish this month, a baby blanket for a cousin. I have a couple larger projects I'm hoping to finish in addition to all the little ones, and we'll see if I do in fact knit enough to get them done in the background. It probably depends on how many meetings I attend this month! A stripe per day will get this one done, and at ten rows per stripe, should be easily doable.
