Woe!

Due to my inability to work on one project all the way through in a monogamous fashion, I am still finishing my Camp Loopy #1 project, due by midnight on the 30th. Tomorrow. I'm making some really excellent illusion socks with an afterthought heel that fits me (wooo!) and was getting pretty close.

Until 36 rows into the leg, when I realized that I was supposed to continue the illusion purl rows around the back of the sock after putting in the afterthought heel waste yarn. Ack!

Steotch-Along 2014 Clue #3

It's looking better every day:

I also seem to have had a bout of start-itis, mostly focused on little amigurumis. Eleven new projects started this week, all holiday gifts, and six of them are already done. Be on the lookout for cute things soon!

Steotch-Along 2014 Clue #2

Back home from the conference and keeping up with the mystery stitch-along:

For the conference, I packed three small cross stitches and eleven skeins of yarn (some partials) for 18 possible projects. I finished seven projects, did as much as I could for an eighth, didn't bring the needles for number nine, and could only start the tenth if I finished one of the three others that I worked on, leaving five extraneous projects. So yes, I over-packed!

Fruit Bowls

It is truly amazing what some sugar and water can do to yarn when combined correctly. I've made five crocheted lace fruit bowls, and they really do hold their shape even when filled with a bunch of heavy apples. I love these things and would probably make more if I had more yarn that was appropriate for them.

I made the first two as a reciprocal gift for a professor who gave me some handmade Japanese thread balls his mother made. I wanted to make the bowls to see how they turned out, and the timing was perfect to make them as gifts.

I then had three more balls of yarn that were appropriate for bowl making and decided to make bowls out of all of them.

One, the black one, is mine. The other two are probably going to be Christmas gifts, and will live in my gift box for the time being.

Pattern: Lace Bowl (Ravelry mine 2 3 4 5)
Yarn: DMC Senso
Hook: 2.25mm/USB
Timeframe: March 5, 2012 - June 14, 2014, a couple of days' crocheting and a week or so of drying each.
Mods: None!
Problems: None!

Honestly, the thing that makes them totally perfect? The Pyrex bowl that is the exact shape to use as a mold for forming the bowls. Oh Pyrex, my Pyrex, what would I do without you?

Six More

There are a few pregnancies in my department, so of course they all get hats and booties. Three sets of fairly-neutral Winnie-the-Pooh yellow hats and booties and I'm down to ten conference projects left to work on.

Basic Socks

I finished these on the first day of the conference, having only half a toe left when I arrived. They're much more fraternal than I tend to like, but they're warm and that's what really counts. Also they're finished. That's important too!

Pattern: None (Ravelry)
Yarn: Patons Kroy Socks FX and ONline Supersocke 100
Needles: US1/2.25mm
Timeframe: January 14 - March 19, 2014
Mods: All of it? CO 72 sts, 2x2 rib for .5", stockinette for 6" leg, 2.75" slipped stitch heel, wedge toe.
Problems: Ran out of yarn, had to dive into my stash for another five grams.

16 more projects with me at the conference. Three more days. Maybe I brought too much?

Steotch-Along 2014 Clue #1

In between conference sessions, I was able to knock out the first clue of the second annual Steotch Mystery Stitchalong:

Yes, that shadow of red hearts was where I miscounted, ripped out, and re-stitched that left-hand side. Oops. I have no idea what it's going to be. Time to put that one away in my suitcase and turn my attention to the 17 other projects I have with me. I obviously don't know how to pack light when it comes to my crafts!

On to June

I didn't finish the handspun this month (it just needs to be washed and set), so the yarn count didn't go up as much as it could have. I also didn't finish many yarn projects, so the lack of new handspun was offset by the lack of using yarn:

Not quite a mile up. June probably won't be too much better, since I'll finish the handspun and buy July's Camp Loopy yarn. At least my wrist is all better, maybe I'll finish some things too!
