February Yarn Count

Not only is it a short month, giving me less time to knit, but the yarn I was collecting for a friend's wedding blanket was on sale. Five skeins, 400 yards apiece, over a mile of yarn in. Not so much out.

Harvest Wedding Blanket, Take One

After finishing the cowl, I had an open cable. We all know that couldn't last. I started in on the wedding blanket that torpedoed my yarn count this month (the yarn I needed was on sale, so I finished buying it all).

I used the recommended US8/5.0mm needles and it is too tight and a bit squeaky. US9s it is!

My Cowl

So this is the fifth time I've knit this particular pattern. I seem to repeat patterns a lot, especially gift patterns. With this pattern, I was able to get my long-tail cast-on to a place where I'm happy with it. I've always done it too tight, and I think it's still too tight to use for socks, but now I'm much happier with it. Almost as happy as I am with how my cowl turned out.

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Chunky AL, just over 3 skeins
Needles: US13/9.0mm
Timeframe: February 19 - 23, 2014
Mods: Knit 'til all the yarn was gone instead of to a specific length.
Problems: None!

The pink sweater definitely brings out some of the pink and red tones in this yarn. It looked amazing and kept me warm today as the weather dipped below freezing. Again.
