Christmas Cowls

I realized about three weeks before Christmas that I completely forgot about gifts for my sisters. Oops. Luckily, Jo-Ann's has an excellent string of coupons and one of my sisters would not be at the family Christmas so I could send her gift back with my mother. I grabbed 7 skeins of Lion Brand Jiffy at 50% off and one full price skein because I didn't want to risk them selling out before the next coupon was active. With those 8 skeins of Jiffy in 4 different colors, I made four Gap-Tastic Cowls for my four sisters, though I forgot to get a picture of the dark grey one. It's the same as the others in a nice dark heathery grey.

Yarn: Lion Brand Jiffy in Camel (above), Fisherman (left), Cafe (right), and Dk. Grey Heather (not pictured), 2 skeins each

 You can wear them long and loose, wrap them around twice for a close-fitting and cozy neckwarmer (as seen in the first picture) or even wrap one loop around your neck and one around your head as a hood. For being quick seed stitch rings knit with bulky yarn, they took a bit longer than anticipated, nearly 8 hours of knitting time apiece. I knit one during a 3.5 hour long meeting, in the movie theater during The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and on the bus throughout the day.

I've never knit in the movie theater before and consider it to be potentially rude if you have clicky metal needles (like me). The theater we were in was full of cellophane-crinkling and popcorn-munching moviegoers, so the noise of the knitting was inaudible. The pattern was so simple it was a breeze knitting it in the dark, and I absolutely loved the movie. It may be the best adaptation of a book I've ever seen.

Movie-watching ethics aside, I love the final product and may make myself one too. If I can decide on a color.
